Zicatela BeachThe location of the famous Mexican Pipeline, Playa Zicatela hosts several international surfing competitions every year.
The break here is only for expert surfers and very strong swimmers. The southern end of the beach near Punta Zicatela has consistently good waves. If you don't surf, you can catch the sunset and enjoy the view of the waves and surfers while sipping a cocktail at one of the many restaurants or bars along the beach. |

Principal BeachRight in the center of town, Playa Principal is often full of fishermen and families. It’s a great spot to soak up some local flavor.
What it lacks in powdery white sand it makes up for with ideal conditions for safe bodyboarding, swimming or just playing in the shallows. Principal is also a very convenient hopping off spot for other beaches in the area, with plenty of lanchas (water taxi) on hand to transport you. |
|
La Punta BeachSituated just down from Playa Zicatela, at the southeast end of the long stretch of sand, is Playa la Punta. If you want all the atmosphere of Zicatela, but with waves that are much safer for newbies, this is the beach for you. La Punta is a great spot for bodyboarding or taking a surf class, and it’s compact golden sand makes it the perfect stretch of beach for a run.

Marinero beachSandwiched between Playa Principal and Playa Zicatela you’ll find Playa Marinero, which keeps up a lively atmosphere and vibe.
For those who love to sunbathe and people-watch, this is the beach to visit. It’s also a favorite swimming beach and sunset spot, and there are several beachside restaurants where you can enjoy a quick snack or delicious meal while you watch the world go by. |

Manzanillo and Puerto Angelito beach
Playa Manzanillo and Puerto Angelito are two beaches separated by a small rocky outcrop that is easily passed over.
Forming a small crescent-shaped bay not far from the town center, both beaches have a relaxed, laid back atmosphere, with calm water that invites swimming and snorkelling. They are very popular with Mexican families. |

Bacocho beachIf you are looking for a luxurious experience, Playa Bacocho is known for its high end beach clubs, complete with sun loungers, music and cocktail service.
Bacocho is not a beach for swimming, but for wandering or jogging its fine sand is ideal. Better still, with most folk enjoying cocktails and poolside loungers along this exclusive stretch, the beach itself is often completely deserted. |
