Zaachila was the last Zapotec capital. It was conquered by Mixtecs before the Spaniards´ arrival. It has a small archeological area where four tombs were discovered. Due to the population´s growth, the complete ancient settlement has not been discovered yet. This village is very important because it was home to the last Zapotec princess: Donaji. After visiting this place, you will have the opportunity to visit the Thursday market, famous for its barbacoa and artisan ice cream. |
